The short version
Savvy Funds is a financial education app. We collect the minimum amount of data needed to make the app work and improve over time. We never sell your data, and you don't need to create an account to use the app.
Who we are
Savvy Funds (the "App", at savvyfundsapp.com and in the Savvy Funds Android app) is built and operated by Savvy Funds App. Privacy questions: privacy@savvyfundsapp.com. Everything else: support@savvyfundsapp.com.
What we collect
Anonymous usage data. When you use the App, we record anonymous events about how you interact with it â which lessons you start, which quizzes you pass, how long you spend on a lesson. This data is tied to a random anonymous ID stored on your device, not to you personally.
Account data (only if you sign up). If you choose to create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We do this so your progress, XP, and streaks can sync across devices. Sign-up is always optional.
Leaderboard and messages (signed-in only). If you set a display name, it appears next to your XP on the leaderboard and in your weekly league, and other signed-in learners can send you messages in the App. Without one you appear as "Learner" plus a short code. Your email is never shown to other learners.
Reminders (only if you turn them on). To send your daily reminder at the right time, we store your device's push address, your language, time zone and reminder switches, plus your streak and last active day. This works without an account; if you're signed in it's linked to your account. Switch reminders off anytime under Notifications; deleting your account removes this data.
Weekly lesson email (only if you turn it on). Signed-in learners can switch on one email a week in Settings. We use your account email, language, time zone, learning goal and progress (which lessons you've done, streak, XP) to pick your next lesson, and we keep the date you switched it on. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can switch it off in Settings anytime. Emails are delivered by Resend, our email provider.
Feedback (only if you send it). When you use Send feedback, we store your note and rating together with the screen you were on, the app version, language, device type and a short progress summary (lessons done, streak, XP). Only the developer can read it. Don't include personal details you don't want us to have.
Technical information. Basic details your browser sends with every request â screen size, browser type, and similar â are recorded to help us spot bugs and improve the experience.
Approximate location. Once per session we estimate your country and region from your IP address (via a third-party lookup) so we can understand where our learners are, in aggregate. We store only the coarse country / region / city â never your IP address itself.
Local data on your device. Your progress, XP, streak, and practice portfolio are saved in your browser's local storage so they persist between visits. Answers you give in the optional Personalize form stay on your device only. You can clear all of this anytime via your browser settings.
What we DON'T collect
- Real financial accounts or real money â the App is entirely educational.
- Your real name, home address, phone number, or government IDs (a display name is optional and can be anything).
- Precise or GPS location â we only infer your approximate country/region from your IP, and never store the IP itself.
- Contacts, photos, or anything else from your device.
How we use your data
We use the data to (1) make the App work, (2) understand which lessons are confusing or boring so we can improve them, (3) track aggregate metrics like daily active users, and (4) keep your progress safe if you sign up for an account.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for ad targeting.
Where your data lives
Account data and analytics events are stored on Supabase (a cloud database service) on servers located in the United States. Supabase's own privacy policy applies to how they handle the data on our behalf. They do not have access to your account beyond hosting it. Emails (sign-in links, account notices and the optional weekly lesson email) are sent through Resend, which receives only the address and the message. Once a week a backup copy of the database (accounts, progress, feedback, subscriptions) is sent to the operator's mailbox (Google), so your progress survives if the database is lost. Deleting your account removes you from the next backup; older copies are kept for a limited time (at most 60 days).
To show live prices, the App requests market data straight from your device from CoinGecko (crypto) and Finnhub (stocks). These requests carry no account details, but like any web request they show your IP address to those services.
Security
Everything sent between the App and our servers travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS).
Your rights
You can: download everything the App holds about you (Settings â Download my data); clear your local progress at any time via your browser settings; delete your account and its data yourself (Settings â Delete my account) or by emailing privacy@savvyfundsapp.com; or stop using the App and we'll stop collecting new data about you. Step-by-step deletion instructions: savvyfundsapp.com/delete-account.
If you're in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR (access, rectification, deletion, portability). If you're in California, you have rights under the CCPA. Email us to exercise any of these.
Deleting your account and data
You can permanently delete your account and data at any time, directly in the app: go to Profile â Settings â Privacy & data â Delete my account & data. This removes your account information (email, display name) and your progress from our servers and from this device. It cannot be undone.
You can also request deletion by emailing privacy@savvyfundsapp.com from the address on your account; we complete email requests within 7 days. Anonymous, non-identifying analytics events (which are not linked to your name or email) may be retained in aggregate.
Children's privacy
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted in the App.
