Volume: The Fuel Gauge
🔊 Price tells you WHAT happened. Volume tells you whether anyone actually meant it. A breakout on low volume is like a stadium wave attempted by three people.
💡 Key idea
Volume = conviction. Big moves on high volume are real; big moves on low volume are suspicious.
🧠 Why it matters
VOLUME is how many shares traded in a period — the bars usually shown beneath the chart. It's the conviction behind a move. A breakout on HIGH volume means lots of traders are committed, so it's more likely to stick. The same move on LOW volume is suspect and can snap back (a 'fakeout'). Rising price + rising volume = a healthy move. Rising price + falling volume = a warning the move is running out of gas.
🌍 In the real world
💡 A stock smashes through resistance — exciting! But check volume. Triple the usual volume? The crowd is behind it. A trickle? It's often a fakeout that snaps right back, trapping everyone who chased it.
